Those of us who fiercely oppose the Hariri Inc (and its patron, the US-Saudi) plan for Lebanon, should not allow our opposition to the new (old) government of Lebanon to lead us to lend any support to the Syrian government. The Syrian government, for what it did to its people and to Lebanese and Palestinians in Lebanon over the years, does not deserve an iota of support. And while I oppose any US intervention in Syria--we see that US wars are directed not against regimes but against peoples, and the US does not have the right to wrestle the right of self-determination from peoples--I also would not want any extension in the life of an oppressive regime. Those who support the Syrian regimes in Lebanon (like Hizbullah or Amal among others) do so out of their own political and sectarian agendas.
