I was just told that the Lebanese communist Party is planning its own demonstration in Beirut in a few days. I am glad that they are planning to fly the red flags as I cannot even stand to see the ugly Lebanese flag anymore. But they do not expect more than a few thousands. They want their demonstration to be separate from the opposition and from yesterday's pro-Syrian demonstration. They do not expect Bush to offer words of praise for their demonstration. (And what is sad about Lebanon is this: sectarian divisions are such that Christian and Druze members and leaders of this ostensibly secular, non-sectarian Party have been defecting in recent weeks).
