Walid Kaddurah: back in As-Safir?

The affair of Walid Kaddurah is known to some of you.  Here was a rising star in the Movement of Arab Nationalists and later in the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine who suddenly in 1973 was arrested by the PFLP on suspicion of espionage.   Kaddurah was rather effective--from what people told me--and recruited supporters within the ranks of the movement.  He posed as the most leftist and he triggered a famous schism in the PFLP: that of Abu Shihab (an Iraqi leader within the PFLP).  Kaddurah quickly confessed that he was recruited by the Lebanese Army's intelligence in the late 60s and he provided notes about the minutes of meetings of PFLP's command.   Some in the PFLP suspected that he was a spy for Israel: George Habash in his book with French journalist, George Malbrunot, confirms that and he accuses him of giving the information to Israel regarding a flight to Baghdad that Habash was supposed to take.  Habash changed plans at the last minute, and Israel hijacked the wrong plane (dumb Mossad practices are not something knew).  Hilda (Habash's wife) confirms the story of Qaddurah here.  Kaddurah was kept in a PFLP prison for years and was later let go during or after the 1982 invasion.  I spoke this last summer with the person who interrogated him and who helped in his release.  I am told that the late Abu Maher Al-Yamani played a role in his release.  Be that as it may, Kaddurah later moved to Dubai where he has lived and where he writes in various UAE newspapers.  I am told that he also writes for Al-Arabiyyah.net (and you still cast doubts on the Israeli connections with the polygamous dynasties in the Gulf?).   I mention all this because I was astonished that As-Safir allowed this Kaddurah to write an obituary of Abu Maher Yamani yesterday.
