How Iranians are turning against their government and loving the US

Those articles are classic in the West.  I know that this correspondent knows Persian but still.  I remember back in 2005, after the assassination of Hariri, there was a flood of articles in the Western press about how Shi`ites of Lebanon are moving away from Hizbullah and supporting the US.  Nicholas Blanford made a career out of this.  What happened to that theory?
