State of the Syrian regime army

A person I trust answered a few questions I posed to him on Aleppo and he wrote to me (my translation): "The Syrian regime army is deficient in professional and trained personnel...It is facing 10000 well-trained and fierce fighters in southwest Aleppo...Russia seems committed to not bomb from the air in the area of the siege of Aleppo due to an understanding with the US.  The battle will be long.  In sum, the Syrian regime army is a disaster...The professional trained Sunnis have left.  Majority are conscripts...Without Hizbullah, Iraqis, and Shi`ite Afghans (under Iranian command) Asad would have been overthrown...and Marx is all-knowing."
