Reading about Mustafa Badr Ad-Din in Western media

Take this reference for example: " a key sponsor of the PLO much admired by the fedayeen rank and file"  In fact, Saddam was such an enemy of the PLO that he in fact sponsored a split from the PLO in 1974 when he helped found the Rejectionist Front as an alternative to the PLO.  The PLO hated Saddam Husayn as did the rank-and-file.  The relationship only improved after the evacuation of PLO forces from Lebanon in 1982.  I remembered the headlines of the Palestinian daily, Falastin Ath-Thrawrah, in the late 1970s and early 1980s when Saddam would be referred to as killer.  But then again: when are facts of Middle East history important in Western media?
