Dalai Lama is by far one of the most popular religious buffoons of the 20th century.

New York Times called this: "He also said some serious, important stuff...He criticized Sharia law, which he said was created for a nomadic civilization."  This buffoon does not know what he is talking about, of course.  Modern history of Islam has long superseded the classical Orientalist association between the rise of Islam and nomadism.  2) Would he dare say the same thing about Halacha? 3) Every religion has a set of rules and regulations, would he be in favor of cancelling them all? I would. 4) I only remember one of his most famous saying: that Israel just wants to live in peace like Tibet.
