North africans, as the first victims of imperialist bombings

From a reader: "I first encountered the claim that the Libyan Arabs were the first people to be bombed from the air in the form that the Italians became the first to drop a bomb from a plane on 1/11/1911. In turn, who wascthe first to practice extermination bombing through weapons of mass destruction? This 'honour' is often given to Italy once again, during the second war with Ethiopia. However there is another claimant: Morocco during the Rif War. There is evidence the Spanish military ruthlessly used mustard gas to subdue the colonial rebellion in 1923. The Spanish state however refuses to acknowledge this to this day.^1
So in summary, the Arab peoples of North Africa were the first to suffer both aerial bombing and extermination bombing."
