So I obtained a copy of this book, How to Deliver the News of Your Marriage to Your first Wife, and this "ideal" method number one got my attention:
"For the man to inform his wife directly, whether before the completion of the act [of second marriage] or after, either through direct oral communication or phone call, inside the house or outside it. Example: He says to her: "Darling, tomorrow is my marriage with the second [wife], with a nice introduction which is appropriate". The second "ideal" method he proposes is to visit the mother of the first wife and inform her (while bringing her nice "simple gifts".
