Western alliances with Al-Qa`idah in the Middle East

As we speak, Western governments in the region have been aligned with Al-Qa`idah or its affiliates or its offshoots (ISIS is NOT the only Al-Qa`idah affiliate or offshoot) in those countries: in Yemen (where the coalition in the south has been aligned with Al-Qa`idah, in Libya where US and NATO dumped weapons and cash on various Al-Qa`idah elements, and in Syria of course where not only Western governments are aligned with Nusrah Front (the official Al-Qa`idah branch) but also with other variants (like Aurar Ash-Sham) or with various Free Syrian Army units who at a moment's notice can switch to join ISIS or Nusrah.
