Syrian war and some Western academics

I don't know what the Syrian war has done to some "respectable" Western academics: some are fine writers and scholars but have been transformed by the war in Syria into vulgar and crude and even obscene propagandists.  I don't buy the story that they were moved by the humanitarian situation as almost all of those "some" people never expressed a whisper about the plight of the Palestinian people.
