Obama as inerviewed by the mouthpiece of King Salman

Obama was interviewed by Ash-Sharq Al-Awsat (the mouthpiece of King Salman and his sons). He said this on Syria:  There must be at the end of the day a political transition in Syria where general rights, including rights of women and ethnic and religious minorities, are protected".  Basically, Obama is saying this: why can't the Syrian people, and women and minorities in particular, enjoy the same rights that women and minorities enjoy in Saudi Arabia? Why?
