Anne Barnard: her quest for "moderate" Syrian rebels

It is hilarious: early on in the Syrian war, Barnard was at pains to tell readers that Syrian rebels are all moderate and secular and very nice.  In this article she cites a US-based academic without telling readers that he is a...US-based academic: "“A tragedy and catastrophic loss for Iraqi history and archaeology beyond comprehension,” Amr al-Azm, a Syrian anthropologist and historian, called the destruction on his Facebook page".
