Fatin Hamamah died

Egyptian Actress, Fatin Hamamah, has died. She was called "the Lady of the Arab Screen".  She was by far the top Arab actress in film.  My mother really liked her and liked how she conducted herself in film and in life, and thought that she was very self-respecting.  As a child, I followed suit and always hoped that Omar Sharif would return to her (later, I felt that she was lucky that he stayed away).  When I grew up, I stopped liking her.  Her performance was too much for me: whiny, mopy, melancholic and repetitive.  She was not relaxed on camera, I felt.  In 2011, she took to the airwaves (by phone) on Egyptian TV to champion Mubarak and to denounce the protesters. I never forgot that.
