Waves of feminism in Lebanon??

"By openly protesting in the streets and nonviolently resisting the Syrian occupation, these women in essence added a feminist dimension to the liberation of Lebanon".  Can you explain to me how this works, please? I would really be appreciative especially when the women in the leadership of the March 14 were some of the most fanatic right-wingers there are, and have no connection to feminism whatsoever.  Unless you consider those who support the US government feminist by definition.  No wonder HRW office in Beirut was promoting this article.
