Victims and families of those allegedly murdered, raped or tortured by British soldiers in Iraq could be forced to wait decades before the Iraq Historic Allegations Team (Ihat) completes its work, despite officials admitting that some cases could amount to "war crimes". "Based on the current rate of progress, it would take almost 50 years for it to complete the cases on its books. And lawyers claim the interviewing process alone will take 18 years."
