Anne Barnard: sitting in Beirut and not knowing what is happening in Lebanon

Look at this passage: "Hezbollah did not cite a reason for the attack, but noted that it had been carried out by a unit named after “the martyr Hassan Ali Haidar.” Mr. Haidar was a Hezbollah military operative who was killed in September by the Israeli military, according to Lebanese news media."  Did not cite a reason for the attack? Maybe there was but you did not know because all you know about Lebanon is drawn from the English Daily Star and Now Lebanon, and the latter does not give news updates anymore--poor you.  Well, according to all Lebanese media, Israeli terrorist army has been coming to Lebanon as of late every week, and kidnapping shepherds and shooting THIS week at a post of the Lebanese Army.  And last week, Hizbullah found a bombing/spying device in South Lebanon, and they dispatched Hassan Ali Haidar to diffuse it, and then the device was denoted from an Israeli plane and killed Haidar. So in fact, Hizbullah was retaliating and not vice versa.  And then you make this really stupid statement: "Israel responded with artillery fire toward two Hezbollah positions in southern Lebanon".  I mean, you live in Beirut (although you cover Syria from there) but you don't even know that Hizbullah does not have fixed positions in South Lebanon?  I mean, really?  Also, read this long article and you will find that every single person cited is an Israeli. Not one Arab or Lebanese was cited, not even a token.
