"diplomats and analysts say": Learn journalism from Nicholas Blanford

Learn journalism from Nicholas Blanford:  "The US plans to send the Lebanese Army additional supplies of Hellfire missiles and other munitions and equipment to help it fight well-armed Sunni militants in the remote mountains of east Lebanon, diplomats and analysts say."   Why did the diplomats and analysts have to tell you that when it was in every Lebanese newspaper and the US ambassador made a public announcement?  I was expecting him to add as is his custom: and a secret commander of Hizbullah, who goes by the name Tony, divulged to me secret plans of the party and said that the party is a terrorist organization but that they only say that to Nicholas Blanford.
