When did the guitar first made an appearance in Arabic music?

In my critique of Samir Kassir's book, Being Arab, I pointed out the inaccuracy (among several) in the book when he claimed that the guitar first made an appearance in Arabic music in Um Kulthum songs in the 1970s (in fact, her last song was in 1973).  I said that it happened "at least" a decade earlier. It was assumed that Anta `Umri was the first Arabic song which incorporated the electrical guitar (back in 1964).   I stand corrected: I am told that `Asi Rahbani had incorporated the guitar in Fayruz song Al-Bint Ash-Shalabiyyah in 1954 while Muhammad `Abdul-Wahab did that back in 1949 in the film `Ashiq Al-Ruh.
