New York Times on an Israeli politician to the right of Netanyahu

New York Times:  "Mr. Rivlin, 74, the affable scion...his reputation as a staunch defender of democratic principles...he has spoken out in favor of a single state with equal rights for all its citizens".
Washington Post:  "Rivlin, 74, a veteran politician, also has pleasing manners, friends and critics say, and was a famously evenhanded speaker of parliament".

With US media, you can always count on them to praise whoever is elected to any office in Israel.  If a Nazi is elected in Israel, you can expect the Washington Post and the New York Times to write something like: "and it should be remembered that Hitler was a vegetarian who was kind to his dog, Blondie, and who was nice to Goebbels' children and gave them candy".
