Holding elections in conditions of civil war and displacement

There is no element of US foreign policy rhetoric that is not deceptive, hypocritical, and just dishonest.  In response to the bogus Syrian regime election, the US government and its subservient media exclaimed: how can you conduct elections in conditions of civil war and displacement?  Did the US not do that in Iraq and Afghanistan and even hailed that as a historical achievement?
