And now a word of Jordanian royal propaganda from MERIP

A reader sent me this:  "It's a quite astounding and disappointing MERIP article ... refers to the "violent and angry" Syrian government, as though we are characterizing governments as cartoon villains. Then the author is 'not aware of confirmation' the Kingdom is harboring opposition fighters, this is absurd, everyone knows the Fee Syrian Army is in the refugees camps in the North using them as rear bases, and that the US government is training fighters & has an intelligence base in Jordan, friends tell me Amman is crawling with US security personnel, this is worse practically than the NYT ... please don't use my name if you want to post this".

Angry Arab: I really enjoyed his royal Jordanian description of the military exercises: "The themes of the exercises include joint operations, border security and counter-terrorism -- all pressing issues for Jordanians very concerned with the dangers of the Syrian war spilling over (even further) into Jordan itself."  Basically the dude conflates the King and his boss (the US ambassador) with the Jordanian people.  And then he says: "the sham election organized by the Asad regime".  Yes, Mr. Who can hold elections that are as prefect and non-sham as the Jordanian monarchy?  But I agree with you: Syrian regime elections are sham, while Jordanian royal elections are real, authentic, and ideal.  Keep going.
