Alison Mitchell, the national editor of the New York Times

I have always wondered about Allison Mitchell.  I knew Allison well, by phone, in 1993 and 1994.  She was a Metro reporter and worked on the World Trade Center story at the time.  We communicated by phone very regularly and she interviewed me for background or in print on the story and about the plight of Muslims in the US.  I have found Allison to be most professional, ethical, sensitive, and honest.  She covered the story humanely and without prejudice or misconceptions.  She was always curious to know and learn.  I have come to respect her and like her.  We have not been in touch since and I can only wish her the best, i.e. somewhere other than in top management at the New York Times.

PS Whatever you do, Allison, don't get the logo of the Times as a tattoo.
