Which book on the Middle East least predicted the eruption of the Arab uprisings?

If you want to measure books on the Middle East by their predictive powers, Samir Kasir's last book, translated into English as "Being Arab" (which loses its original depressing meaning from the French original title--Considérations sur le malheur arabe).  Here is a book (it is really a take off on Fouad Ajami's The Arab Predicament) that basically tells that that Arabs are addicted to powerlessness--literally.  Funny enough, a few years after the book was published the Arab uprisings erupted.  I was reading the book for the second time and I kept thinking that Edward Said's criticisms of Orientalism apply to the content and even language of the book.  Ironically, I reached the end of the book and saw that the translation from French was funded by the French Foreign Ministry. Edward would have loved that one bit.
