As you know, this terms was used by Kahlil Gibran's rival and foe, Amin Rihani, in a conversation with Mikha'il Nu`aymah, according to the latter's biography of Gibran.  It also applies to the fake emotion exhibited by propagandists of Saudi princes and Western officials about Syrian people.
