A source in the region sent me this:  "jamal maaruf is from jabal azawiya in idlib, after the islamic front stormed the arkan and took it over, thereby destroying the Saudi project of the smc, the saudis took control over a new coalition being formed with various groups including jamal's and it was eventually called the syrian revolutionary front. and yes i'm pretty sure it was rima maktabi [who promoted him in reports for Al-Arabiyya].
