Eagle and the Lion: Saudi princes and Western journalists

I was thinking yesterday.  Note the extent to which Western journalists cover Saudi royal family quite sympathetically.  The corruption of Saudi royal family never receives the scrutiny or condemnation that the slightest case of corruption receives if observed by governments opposed to the US.  The US media is the most guilty among Western media.  The stories about Prince Bandar in the Western press are all fawning.  I maintain that there is a case of corruption there affecting the coverage by many journalists. I was thinking about James Bill's book, The Eagle and the Lion which covers the relationship between the Shah of Iran's regime and the US.  He extensively documents the gifts and rewards that the Shah's embassy in DC showered on key American journalists.  Caviar gifts and Persian rugs apparently left a great impact on liberal and conservative media personalities.  Take a look at the book.
