From Sara: "In case you have not seen Channel 4 News in the UK have been covering the issue of the Saudi Kings ex wife and daughters,. they did a tv interview with her where they really challenged the Saudis in a way that few Western channels would dare to - even showing prince Charles dancing and pointing out hypocrisies of the West.
Here is the link to video and story-
Most interesting thing is though - after Channel 4 dared to do this - their rival at the BBC a programme called Newsnight immediately tried to do a similar interview but in a way which would discredit the story - their presenter tried to make her look like a mad woman .
Last night they then interviewed a Saudi deputy minister - watch link below at 37 mins essentially allowing him to claim there is human rights reform taking place without even asking about king's daughters. this from a presenter supposedly known for his tough questioning. the best question he can ask is "what excites you about the reforms" no doubt the victims of Saudi oppression will be "excited. "
one can only assume channel 4's questions scared the Saudis so they now use the bbc as their mouthpiece.
Anyway I thought you might find this divide in the British media attitude to Saudi interesting - if you can put anything on your blog about it, it would help more people know."
