One of the closest aides to Wadi` Haddad wrote to me about the story of his poisoning. He rejected the story of his poisoning by Belgium chocolate. He said that Haddad was not known for his love of chocolate at all (he loved savory foods), and that the story of poisoned chocolate was planted by Mossad in a book by a British journalist. He said that Mossad propagandists assumed that Haddad was overweight when he was in fact thin. As for the story of poisoning at the house of Akram Hurani in Baghdad, which was reported in Bassam Abu Sharif's book on Haddad. He said that he was there with Haddad and that the meeting was not (as was mentioned in Abu Sharif's book) in the garden of Arkam Hurani's house because it was winter time. He said that Hurani's wife presented coffee on a large try to all the people gathered and that it was impossible to target Haddad with one coffee cup at the time. He said that the mystery of how and when he was poisoned remains a mystery.
