Ira Lapidus

It pains me that the new edition of A History of Islamic Societies by Ira Lapidus is a shortened version. This is one of the best of its kind--the best since Hitti's History of the Arabs.  I know that the original is massive and that students often complained about the size and scope, but who cares. It is a great work and should have been preserved.
