Book Reviews in Foreign Affairs

The book reviews in Foreign Affairs are so lame.  They are intended to not offend anyone.  This is the legacy of Fareed Zakaria who used to fume if any of his writings or the writings of his friends were ever criticized.  The section on Middle East books by John Waterbury is most disappointing in them all: they are lame and never critical and the description appears lifted from the back cover.
