The New York Times from 1905

There was a fight between a few Syrians in 1905 in New York City.  The New York Times screamed in a headline: "Wild-eyed Syrians battled fiercely for a quarter of an hour in the lower west side last night. " (October 24, 1905).  I would say that a fight that lasted for a mere 15 minutes is not that fierce.
