Philip Hitti: his evolution

I may write about that sometime but you can chronicle the path of writings by Philip Hitti. He started writing in the 1920s as an abashed racist against Arabs (he was a Syrian nationalist but of the general type, probably influenced by Louis Cheikho and Henri Lammens) and would always defer to the White Man to offer condescending opinions of the native Arabs.  But he evolved over time especially as he gained more confidence in his field.
