Israel and "others in the Middle East"

"Ari Shavit, a columnist for the left-leaning daily newspaper Haaretz, said that Israel and others in the Middle East were being left with a “feeling of orphans,”"  I like it when Zionists in Israel and the US are too embarrassed to admit that their close allies are the Gulf potentates, so they hide behind various categorization or labels.  "Others" is good enough for me.
