From comrade Asa: "As'ad, look at this silly BBC report:
Ok? So despite that al-Qaida in Iraq slaughtered many
Iraqis on a sectarian basis, including Christians, there is no reason for
Syrian Christians to fear Jabhat al-Nusra OK? They are nice al-Qaida.
Sources? Anonymous resident (who's afraid of the regime) and
"a nun"
(also anonymous: reason for anonymity unknown).
But there is a further deception here. As it happens, I
met Lina Sinjab
once: in London. So I check her twitter account, and sure
enough it looks like she filed this report from London -- despite there being
no indication of that in the report whatsoever.
That is a step forward from all those reporting on Syria
from Beirut, no?
So I asked her on Twitter to clarify where she is and
sure enough she is in London: "@AsaWinstanley my report says 'people bbc
spoke too or reached' didnt say i am in maloula at all. And yes I am in
london"
She did not clarify whether she spoke to
"resident" and "nun" over the phone or over Skype.
"Resident" and "nun" were enough to justify "Christian
villagers cast doubt on Syria jihadist ‘threat’"
It would be laughable were it not for the tens of
thousands dead (at the hands of both the regime and the rebels)."
