Anne Barnard's bigotry toward 'Alawites

When ever she identifies somebody as an 'Alawite she identifies him/her like this:  "Ms. Ibrahim, a member of Mr. Assad’s minority Alawite sect".  Imagine if she were to identify every Jewish person as "member of Ariel Sharon's faith" and every Christian as "a member of Adolph Hitler's religion".  Can you imagine the uproar?
