Arab cultural taboos: oh, yeah

"They are starting their own businesses, in defiance of a strong Arab cultural taboo against failure".  What on earth is that?  I mean, yes--unlike in the West, I guess--failure is not highly praised but what is this reference to taboo against failure? Not even Raphael Patai made that claim in the Arab Mind?
