starved for potatoes and arms

The problem with the present-day propaganda on Syria is that there are inconsistent messages. The same newspaper that tells the story (TODAY) that the US has allowed Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar (not to mention UAE and Jordan) to ship arms to the Syrian rebels want you to believe that they are "starved" for arms.  It is also the same paper that published the story about the Croatian-Saudi arms deal to the benefit of Syrian rebels. Try to unifying the talking points, please.
