rumor about rumors in Lebanon

I mean, I am not surprised that the New York Times resorts to rumor reporting when it comes to the Middle East.  But I have not heard this rumor and not seen any evidence of it even in Hariri media: "Rumors abounded that, fearing the imminent fall of the Syrian government, Hezbollah was rushing to install its own supporters in the Lebanese government to strengthen its control."
