How to pick moderate and secular elements in the Syrian armed opposition

I am not making this up. Do you know how the US decides that an element of the Syrian armed opposition is secular and moderate? They basically consider all those elements that are loyal to House of Saud as secular and moderate. I am not making this up.  Kid you not.
