Covering Syria in the Western press

It has been more than two years and there is not even a hint of self-reflection or improvement in the Western media coverage of Syria.  Notice that only "major gains" by rebels are reported.  I mean, in the two years, I have not once read about one setback suffered by the rebels and I have not read about one gain by the Syrian regime.  At one point someone notices that this is propaganda and not coverage?
