"With fighting raging in Damascus and other cities in Syria on Wednesday, Amnesty International issued new reports detailing what the group called war crimes committed by both sides in the conflict.
The group said that its researchers in Syria had confirmed government
shelling and indiscriminate bombing of civilian residential areas,
“flattening entire neighborhoods, often with internationally banned
weapons,” including cluster bombs.
It said it also found “an escalation of abuses by armed opposition
groups,” including brutal summary killings of captured officers, though
the group was at pains to say that the “vast majority” of war crimes
were being committed by government forces."
