When Western or Israeli colonizers speak about the "pain" of coloinization, they really mean the pain inflicted on the colonizers

"caused an outpouring of pained reflections about India’s colonial history under Britain."  Poor colonizers.  Were they really hurt during the reflections?  Where did hurt mostly? in the kidney?
