US Embassy in Lebanon apologizes for ruining the ruins in Tyre

Lebanon got a verbal apology from a press release by the US embassy in Lebanon regarding the disgusting violation of Lebanese ruins in the city of Tyre.  Imagine if a Lebanese ambassador were to drive through the George Washington's property in Mount Vernon ruining the place during the drive. What would the US have said and done?
