support for Israel and freedom of speech in the US

Look at the phrasing of this sentence in the New York Times:  "Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg, a vocal supporter of Israel but also a frequent advocate of free speech..."  It is hilarious.  It implies that support for Israel is compromised or violated by the advocacy of free speech.  This is one of those cases of accidental honesty in the Times.  ha ha ha
