I have never ever heard someone talk about freedom with such shallowness and oversimplification than George W. Bush and the Syrian poet Adonis. Their talk reminds me of elementary school composition assignments. And I was reading the text of the speech by Adonis in Geneva at a conference organized by Hatham Al-Manna`. I share Adonis' criticisms of the Syrian opposition and of the intervention by regional and international powers but how come he has been silent over the years about the crimes of the regime? And in fact, Adonis worked for the Syrian regime newspaper right after the regime intervened in Lebanon on the side of the right-wing militias. Freedom, my potato.
