Ethnic Cleansing of Palestine

Sultan Al-Qassemi posted this on his Facebook page yesterday (I cite with his permission):
"Highlights from today's reading of Ilan Pappe's Ethnic Cleansing of Palestine:

1- "Between 30 March and 15 May, 200 villages were occupied and their inhabitants expelled. This is a fact that must be repeated, as it undermines the Israeli myth that the ‘Arabs’ ran away once the ‘Arab invasion’ began." p.104

2- The only epic novel on the Palestinian catastrophe is Elias Khoury's Bab Al Shams (made into a movie in 2004) p.111

3- Nimr Hawari, a resistance fighter, became the first Palestinian judge in 1950's Israel. 122

4- In 1948, US ambassador to the UN Warren Austin said: "The US position is that the partition of Palestine is no longer possible" but the State Department (which THEN had experts on the Middle East) were sidelined in favour of Capitol Hill and the White House. p.123

5- Egypt executed two Israelis David Horin and David Mizrachi after they were caught trying to inject typhoid into Gaza's wells p.101 (the Hagana were known to poison wells such as in Acre and Baysan p.100)

6- In April 1948 500 Druze fighters deserted the Arab Liberation Army and joined the Jewish forces. p114".
