From Basim: "The foreign minister of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Sheikh Abdullah bin
Zayed Al Nahyan on Friday (December 14th) opened the International Centre of
Excellence on Countering Violent Extremism in Abu Dhabi, Emarat al-Youm reported
Saturday. The fact the UAE is hosting this centre embodies the principle of
tolerance – which is contrary to violent extremism – that the country is
embracing, the newspaper quoted Al Nahyan as saying in his speech at the
inauguration ceremony."
“We have to continue working together to defeat extremist ideology,
blunt the spread of radicalization, and slow the flow of recruits to terrorist
networks. The UAE took an important step when it announced it would host the
first-ever international center developed to combat extremism and develop those
best practices that will do so.” — Secretary of State Hillary Rodham
Clinton
