I woke up today to read an article in the Times about a shift in the Russian position on Syria. More telling in my opinion is the visit to Iran by well-known Syrian dissident, Haytham Al-Manna`, and his meeting with Salihi, the secretary of the Supreme Council of National Security in Iran. This could be the beginning of a shift in Iran's position toward accepting a replacement of Bashshar. From the standpoint of Iran-Hizbullah, Bashshar has done a lousy job in leading the local, regional, and international campaign against his enemies. According to my sources, Hizbullah has become increasingly dissatisfied with Bashshar's performance especially with his reluctance to speak in public or even on TV.
