crunching the numbers on rocket attacks

Don sent me this:  "Phan Nguyen his new piece on Mondoweiss "Dissecting IDF propaganda: The numbers behind the rocket attacks",  takes on the inflated numbers currently propagated by the IDF on social media. According to his count (backed up by Israeli official sources), “in the entire history of rocket attacks [from Gaza] into Israel, a total of 26 people have been killed altogether.” This is since 2001, in the same time at least 4.705 Palestinians (including 1020 children) where killed in Gaza (according to B’Tselem numbers  ).
Nguyen then shows how the IDF, for their ongoing Facebook and Twitter campaigns, mysteriously increased the numbers of those killed by rocket and mortars in Israel. He goes on to check the numbers of injuries and it gets worse. “Gaza rockets have produced so few casualties that in the absence of deaths and serious injuries, Israeli authorities have resorted to detailing how many people were ‘treated for shock’.” The IDF leaves this fact unmentioned and even here increases numbers by the hundreds as shown by Ngyuen in this example:
2007 578 (IDF) / Shin Bet: more than 300 (most from shock)
2008 611 (IDF / Shin Bet: about 400 (including victims of shock)".
